Protein Energy Bites

 

Did someone say protein?

I hate buying protein bars. Personally, I think they are overpriced and really not that good. If I can make them myself, I will.

One reason why I am thankful for Shakeology is for the fact that it is complete nutrition in a shake, and a great powder to use for “baking”……only this recipe is a no bake.

No raw eggs. No weird ingredients, just goodness.

This is a standard recipe that many of us coaches have used, but you can easily switch it up and make different versions of these protein bites to please your palate.

My kids love these and while they can last a week, they won’t.

You will need to practice serious self control. Ha!

Protein energy bites

3 scoops/packets of Vanilla Shakeology or Vegan Shakeology 

1/2 cup raw honey

1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

1/2 cup organic almond butter (or nut butter of choice)

1/2 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Place all ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix together well. Roll dough into small balls (should make roughly around 12 balls) and let sit in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to set.

Then store in a container for up to a week.

Mama, Take Charge & Don’t Be Afraid


After I had my son back in 2009, I definitely felt the pressure to get back into pre-pregnancy shape. 

If you are a mama, I am sure you have felt it.

We are surrounded by articles and tips on how to bounce back in 10 weeks after pushing out a kid or having our bodies cut open to give life. We see celebrities who do it and they say “make no excuses! I work out for two hours everyday!” While they have their nannies or staff watch their children.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a nanny. And even though I don’t work outside the home, I still don’t have two hours to kill it at the gym. I make it work with what I have. Which is why I really love having something like Beachbody on Demand (basically the Netflix for fitness) to help me stay in shape without the added stress of child care or driving to the gym. I like the gym. I like fitness classes, but I can’t always get there. My home is my consistent gym. 

Mamas, what if I could simplify all of this for you? What if, especially on the days that were really hard and busy, all you had to do was push play.

What if, for simply one meal a day, you could have something that would nutritionally fill in the gaps so you didn’t have to succumb to the drive thru….and it made you feel good.

What if, we worked out together virtually. We high-fived each other virtually. We connected and shared together as we worked towards our goals and it came without deadlines. Without stress. Without added pressure.

You can have goals without trying to compete with everyone else. What if you could do you?!


I created my virtual fitness groups to be a place where we can achieve our goals together, and become friends in the process. Where we feel supported and not pressured.

Where our worth isn’t measured by the scale, but by Him who created us. 

My next group that begins on Monday, April 23rd will be that place.

We will workout virtually together.

We will share new recipes and learn together.

We will lift each other up.

We will have at least one meal a day that fills in the gaps nutritionally and gives us a quick win for the day. 

We will have fun. We will see transformation. It will be beautiful. Just like you.

Turn Your Passion Into a Career

I came home from an incredible new leader retreat with the Team Beachbody, and I could not be more energized by what it is that I get to do for my job.

I get to work from home, on my own hours, and help women all over the US and Canada reach their health and fitness goals, as well as work on my own and stay accountable for my own health and fitness.

I didn’t grow up thinking I was going to work in the fitness industry.  I wanted to become an actress. I felt that for sure, with my acting and singing abilities, that was what I was called to.

My dream was to win an Oscar (anybody watch this past weekend?)

I got married to an amazing man and together we have two amazing children. I discovered five and a half years ago that I needed to take care of myself as well if I wanted to be around to see my grandbabies! I still looked (and felt!) five and a half months pregnant when my youngest child was almost two! So I pulled out an old Turbo Jam DVD, began eating clean, and saw results within nine months. I felt amazing! And while I was taking care of me, I discovered that I fell in love with health and fitness, with Beachbody, with helping other women find the right health and fitness solutions that made sense for themselves and their lifestyle.

And here we are!

I am now hiring and looking for passionate women who love health and fitness and want to help others.

I will be hosting a New Coach Bootcamp for those who join my team.

What is Team Be a Size You?

I started my Team back in 2011 because I wanted it to consist of women, moms, doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses, college students who wanted to do something with passion. They loved fitness and they wanted it to mean more than just posting sweaty selfies.

They wanted to be a part of changing the world for good, one body at a time.

I am a lifetime 3 Star Diamond Coach which means that I have coaches on my team who are successful leaders of their own teams. We are constantly growing and for 2017, I want more people to join me on my mission of helping people live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

I have build my business from home.  I grew my business even on the side of a mountain in a vacation trailer with no Wi-Fi and when my husband did not have a job.  I have a persevered through even the hardest of times and I know what it takes to help you have a successful business, no matter where you are coming from or where you are starting from.

Beachbody has changed my life and my family’s financial future.  I am so thankful that Beachbody came along in my life when it did.

I was a young mom who loved her family, but struggled to love herself. Who thought taking time to workout was selfish, because I needed to sacrifice in order to care for them.

But I learned quickly that I could practice self care and be a good wife and momma. My husband and my children wanted me around for as long as God would allow and I wanted to be the best steward I could be with the body that He gave me.  I feel stronger than ever before, I have more confidence, I have found that my gifts are teaching and encouraging others to utilize their God given gifts and talents for good.  I can play with my kids without feeling like I need a nap everyday.  I can do more with my day because I have the energy, thanks to working out daily and eating clean and Shakeology.

What Is Your Health Worth to You?


Quite often, the biggest reason why people will not join one of my Be a Size You bootcamps is because of money. Spending money on themselves when it comes to their health is terrifying to most because they either believe that:

A. It is wasteful and that they shouldn’t have to spend money in order to get healthy

Or 

B. They don’t feel good about spending money on themselves. It feels selfish.

I will be honest and say that it drives me absolutely bonkers when someone tells me that they can’t join my bootcamp to get healthier because of money, but literally I see them in Facebook groups buying hundreds of dollars in clothes, buying a pet, going to a concert….you get the picture?

I am not against those things. I buy clothes and like going to concerts. But they showed me that they placed their value not in their health, but in the stuff.

Let’s face it. Health and fitness is not exactly the way to instant gratification. Buying new clothes or going to a concert gives us immediate satisfaction. Like we got our money’s worth.

Fitness and health takes awhile. You don’t see results in one day. Most of the time, your investment won’t show any results until a few months in.

But is your health worth it? I think it is. Obviously, because I have been committed to working out and eating healthy and drinking Shakeology for the last 6 years:

But is it to you? 


How much would you pay if it meant you could play with your kids without feeling tired all the time?

How much would you pay if it meant you could reverse Type 2 Diabetes, have a stronger heart, be given a second chance to live?

What is that worth to you?

I don’t believe that health and fitness is free. It costs you a lot. It costs you your time. It requires sacrifice. It requires effort. It requires investment. I believe humans are worth the investment. New clothes or a new dog or new toys might bring satisfaction for a moment.

But for the person who invests in their health? They will see that investment go way farther than cute leggings ever will. (Again, no shame in buying leggings. I have a TON and I love them!)

Enough with the “I will do the bare minimum.” NO. Go all in. You are worth it! Do it. You won’t regret it!

Finishing up my first month of 22 Minute Hard Corps and I could not be more excited. I think this has become a new favorite program for me. If you know me, you know that it has taken me multiple tries to even get through one full week of Tony Horton’s fitness programs. I don’t know why it was so hard for me, but this time I was determined to do this program from start to finish. And now I am nearly 30 days in. Yes!!!!

I see some of you watching me and following me, and encouraging me on my social media pages. And it means so much. But now, I don’t want you to just watch.

Week 2 of Whole 30

The Whole 30 has been so interesting this week! I have really loved the meals I prepared for my family. If you saw my previous post, I shared the Mediterranean chicken that was a hit, as well as the Sweet Potato soup and Lemon Rosemary salmon. With a ton of veggies and Shakeology as well during the second week, I feel good.

But then at the same time, I don’t.

Anybody else feel the emotional toll from this week? I found myself glued to social media and the news with all the hoopla in regards to the inauguration, the women’s march, the anger, the fear, etc.

It was like my body was doing all the things necessary to take care of itself, but the stress of everything I was seeing was invading my body and my body was fighting to survive.

My mind too. It is true when the Bible teaches us to guard our hearts and minds. Because what goes in….will manifest itself in other ways. 

My heart was so broken over the anger and fear and ugliness that I witness from both sides of the debate. People have literally lost their minds! And I could tell, physically, that it took a toll on me. I am a very political person. I am interested greatly in what happens in our country and its leaders.  I don’t always share those opinions or thoughts. My mother didn’t raise an idiot and I have learned when to speak up and when to be quiet and fight silently. But I also tend to carry things internally, and that affects MY well being.

I know this was supposed to be a recap on the Whole 30, but this journey isn’t just about a diet or food to me. I have been this lifestyle for about five years now. It is NEVER just about food. Which is why my emotions are a part of this week’s recap. 

But rest assured, I am good. I am okay. But I noticed that I may not be seeing the results that I would like because of the stress my body may be feeling from this week. 
Have you felt emotionally charged this week? It is okay to admit that you have! I think everyone has been affected somewhat. 

Remember to pray for our nation and its leaders. It doesn’t matter whether you agree with them or not. Pray for them! They have to make decisions that we do not! I do not envy their job.

Finished up week 2 of 22 Minute Hard Corps and the Beachbody Health bet is still going strong! My group is crushing it! 

My current favorite Shakeology recipe is so simple right now.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 scoop greenberry Shakeology 

1/4 cup frozen berries

1 tsp coconut oil

Extra ice

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bites

Just a disclaimer. I am not a food blogger. When I make meals or snacks, I practically scarf them down because I am that impatient when it comes to food. So I apologize in advance that I don’t have beautiful photos of my food.

You will have to settle for my obnoxious selfie instead.

Again, I apologize.

But I wanted to share with you a recipe that I made this last week that was so good, my husband demanded that I make them each week for a snack he could grab and go. It is also kid approved which means for all of you mamas out there who are struggling to find a new healthy snack to pack with your kids lunch, you can try this!

I adapted my recipe from Michelle Myers. I used slightly different ingredients, but they are still incredibly nutritious and a perfect snack for you and for your family. Enjoy!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bites

1 cup Quick Oats

1 Cup Real Organic Peanut butter (or nut butter of your choice)

1/2 cup of real honey

1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder (I used Shakeology for a superfood boost)

2 TBSP Chia Seeds

1/2 cup raw organic Cacao Nibs

  1. Add the quick oats, shredded coconut, protein powder & chia seeds into a large mixing bowl
  2. In a smaller mixing bowl, add nut butter and honey. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Add nut butter mixture into dry ingredients and use a spatula to blend ingredients together until they form a cookie dough texture.
  4. Sprinkle in cacao nibs until evenly distributed in the dough.
  5. Roll into balls. Wet your hands with water before rolling to prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands.
  6. Store then in the refrigerator in an air-tight container to avoid them from drying out.

These won’t last long in your house.  Mine lasted a few days. Actually, barely that. In all honesty, you should double your recipe and practice some portion control when it comes to these. They are that good!

Cookies and Cream Superfood Smoothie


Before I get started, I just want to be 100% honest with you.

I despise Vanilla Shakeology. Like, it makes me cry and it breaks my heart every time I try to make it because I literally cannot stand the after taste of it.

Same goes for strawberry. 😫

All the other flavors are great! I love them and I tell the world about them. But Vanilla. Oh for the love of vanilla. Every time I have tried a recipe, it just breaks my heart into a bazillion pieces.

Until now.

You guys!!!!! I had seen this cookies and cream protein shake recipe floating around the inter webs and Pinterest and I wanted to make it more superfoody (is that a word? It is now!) so originally, I was going to use chocolate Shakeology.

But, something in me said “grab the vanilla.”

“What!” I said to myself. “You will be disappointed again! Don’t do it!”

But I did it.

And it was a victory, y’all! I totally did a victory dance in the kitchen because this is so good!

So I present to you, Cookies and Cream Shakeology smoothie. Prepare for happiness my friends!

Cookies and Cream Shakeology Smoothie:

1 frozen banana

1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or whatever milk you prefer. I don’t really do dairy in my shakes)

1 scoop Vanilla Shakeology (or vanilla protein powder…but you miss out on the superfood benefits)

2 TBSP cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips

1 TBSP almond butter 

1 tsp honey or real maple syrup

1/2 tsp vanilla extract 

Ice, if you like a thicker shake
Blend blend blend and the drink up!

Transformation Tuesday: Lauren Bello

I am so  excited to share with you this Transformation story!

Lauren has been a part of several of my online fitness accountability groups and she is a brand new teammate as well with Team Fuel!

She tried out the fitness program, Cize, because she needed something a little different for her routine. And she was drawn to it because, hello! Dancing!  Who doesn’t like to dance?!

“I lost 1.5 inches in my waist and only a few pounds, but I feel more energetic and there is a noticeable difference in my before and after photos.  This totally encourages me to keep at it! I never expected results from ‘just dancing’ but the proof is in the photos. I can’t tell you how vital this visual is in my progress. I’m really excited to complete my next challenge!”

I Want To ……..

Do you have a dream on your heart? Maybe it is something that you have put off because of the reality of your life right now.

Maybe it is financial. Or you are in between careers. Or you are struggling with your health. Marital issues. Fear. Lack of faith.

It could be a lot of things.

I know for myself, my dreams for myself and my family took a hit when my husband lost his job in the summer of 2013. It was heart-wrenching and we struggled. My husband was without a job for nearly 8 months. For those of you who have been through the trial of job loss, you know the anxiety and worry and stress that is felt during that time.

It is hard to dream when things look so bleak.

I wanted to minister to women, but how could I do that if we were struggling to stay afloat in our home?

I wanted to nourish and take care of my family, but how could I do that with such limited income (and lack thereof) and not a whole lot of resources.

I wanted my husband to pursue his dreams of pastoring a local church and teaching others God’s word and leading them to walk with Jesus faithfully, but how could he do that when not working at a church and struggling with self-doubt and wondering if he would ever be work in a church again?

Those doubts and fears you feel sometimes? When things are dark and dreams lose their luster? They are real.

But, something changed in me when God called our family to live on the side of a mountain in a single wide, 35′ trailer on a ranch serving men who were overcoming drug and alcohol addictions. Something transformed inside of me and in our family during our time on the mountain.

That story, I get to share with you tonight. I also get to brag about this amazing community of women and fellow friends, who are joining me in this journey to help people live more fulfilling lives.  To be a Size you. It isn’t a gimmick. It takes work. It is an opportunity.

But my story is real.  Will you be my special guest tonight?  I would love to have you join me.
