For those of you who have felt like you have been left out of the fitness community because the workouts are too intense or too much for your body and you don’t feel ready to go THAT hard…..
Now there is something finally for you.
I had briefly gone over what YouV2 was and the workout over in this post. So every question you may have regarding the length of workouts, cost, specific links and more are in that post. So head there if you have questions.
I will be honest when I say that at first, I wasn’t excited about this program.
You will have to keep in mind that I have been on my fitness journey for seven years now. Six years as a Beachbody Coach. So I had to go back to when I first began.
While I didn’t have 50 pounds to lose, I definitely had 20 plus and I didn’t like how I felt or looked. I was tired. But I also didn’t feel like I could do the extreme programs like P90X or Insanity.
I just wanted something that would help consistently move and not feel defeated after the first day. I wanted a program that would provide me with the tools I needed to push play and be motivated and that I would at least have a little fun. I like fun. I bet you do too.
Did I push myself to more intense programs later on? Absolutely! Eventually, I built up enough strength and confidence to take on new challenges. But that didn’t happen in month one. Or month two.
But it is not just about me. It is about others. That’s the point.
So for those of you who have a considerable journey ahead of you and you want to start but you aren’t ready for Insanity or Crossfit, then this is a place just for you.
Can I encourage you to reach out to your coach or to me if you don’t have one, to get started? I have a virtual fitness community starting on Monday, May 22nd and I would love to have you join us!
Be a Size You,
P.S. Did you know the kids can join in too??!! YAAAAASSSSSS! Let’s make family fitness a thing!
It has been awhile since I have done a weekly recap of my fitness and health adventures, so I thought I would briefly check in here to share what is going down.
I will be finishing up my first 30 days of Piyo this week. It has actually felt so good to just stretch and not jump. My body feels more flexible. I don’t feel as run down, and I feel stronger too. This was an awesome break from the extreme fitness I was used to.
Starting on Monday, I will be diving into 21 Day Fix Extreme, which is a 3-week fitness and nutrition program. I love the 21 Day Fix Series. Anytime I need something short but effective when it comes to fitness, that is my go to, unless it is dancing. I will be back to lifting weights, cardio and body weight exercises this time, so really focusing on my nutrition for muscle growth and stamina, and having Shakeology to fill in the nutrition gaps I may be missing, as well as a ton of Energize on hand, is what will get me through. Don’t think for a second that this program is easy. Lol!
If you have done the basic 21 Day Fix and don’t know the difference between the Fix and Extreme, here is a handy tool for you.
For those curious about how I eat, I will follow a mostly Paleo diet. It will still work with this program.
For those of you in my upcoming Bootcamp that begins Monday, I will be sharing a “how to choose your fitness program” tutorial today in our community. Not in my May Bootcamp but would like to join us? There is still room! Just click on the contact me button or apply here.
Nutrition will be huge for me. I have already shared about how my nutrition and changing to a more Paleo lifestyle has helped me in my overall fitness transformation, but I want to share how I think eating differently will help you as well.
It doesn’t have to be technically Paleo. But it should be nutrient dense, and real food. I see so many on social media about women who are looking to get healthier and change their bodies, but they don’t really eat that different. OR they go the extreme route and do a diet or cleanse believing that it will help speed up their metabolism or help them lose weight, but then they find themselves back to where they started. They may see some weight loss in the beginning, but after the diet is over or the juice cleanses are done, it is a heavy reality.
Food isn’t something you can kind of sort of stick with. You must constantly be researching, experimenting, cooking, trying new things. Food isn’t one size fits all. But I will say the eating whole food is for everyone. Stop buying the pre-packed frozen health food and start making your own. If you need something quick and nutritious so you can avoid junk food, this is why I recommend Shakeology. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated meals. Keep it simple, sister. If you keep telling yourself that it is too expensive, too much time, or that you are too busy, those are excuses that need to go. You need to re-think your priorities and your beliefs. Just tell yourself instead that it is not worth the time, the money, or the effort to do these things in order to be healthier.
Honestly, when you tell yourself that, how does it sound?
Because I really believe that nutrition is such a key factor in your results, I will be posting my meals each week on social media. I won’t do it daily, but basically a weekly recap so you can see by what I mean when I say easy, nutritious, and delicious. I promise, it won’t be complicated.
I will also share my favorite places to eat out that provide locally sourced and organic options. Worth it to find awesome restaurants in your area to help you!
As always, my heart and mission is to encourage you and push you. You are worth it, sister friend!
So far, I am feeling really good. These are my results so far from Core De Force. I am really, really happy and my husband has said that he really notices a change all over.
Something I have noticed too is that when I look in the mirror in my bedroom, I can see clearly all the changes. I can feel them in my clothes as well.
But, because I lack a tan, and I am so dang white, my results are not showing up in pictures as well. Which kind of irritates me but I guess that is what I get for being pale. Lol! I don’t have shredded abs, that’s for sure. But I feel pretty good about them!
*Side note: you do not have to work towards shredded abs in order to feel progress. Whatever results YOU want to work towards, go for that. I have my specific goals and you will have yours.
Getting ready for my final week of CDF and I am super excited about finishing. This program has been hard for me to push through, honestly. I like it. It is a really good fitness program. But I think I enjoy working out to it LIVE with others than I do at home, if that makes sense. It definitely is not my favorite at home fitness program. But it is good. Just not my favorite. And that is okay. I have quite a few favorites to go back to.
Right after I am done with CDF, I will be doing Piyo! I am so excited to take a break from intense programs and do something low impact but effective and continue to strengthen and lengthen my body.
An example of what I did this week with CDF:
On deck for Week 4:
Monday: MMA Plyo & Core Kinetics
Tuesday: Power Sculpt & 5 Min. Core on the Floor
Wednesday: MMA Plyo & Core Kinetics
Thursday: Dynamic Strength & 5 Min. Core on the Floor
Friday: MMA Speed & Core Kinetics
Saturday: MMA Shred & Core Kinetics
Sunday: Active Recovery
I am really determined to finish this program because, hello, if you finish and turn in your results, you get a free t-shirt. And this girl likes free stuff. Haha!!
I am ready to take on a new week! Let’s do this! My 7 Day Spring into Health challengers begin on Monday and we are ready to kick some booty! 💪🏻
The workouts are getting more challenging and they are definitely longer than 22 minutes! But that is okay. I need the push.
I think what challenges me so much with this workout are the constant push-ups and the cardiovascular movements that MMA requires. I have to mentally push myself through those kinds of workouts because I tend to quit when it gets really hard. I don’t like hard! Lift weights I can do any day. To me, that is easy. But oh man. Cardio and body weight 😫.
Here is a very brief video of one of my routines that I performed this week. Don’t be fooled by it. It is NOT easy. You will be a sweaty mess and exhausted at the end. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. But once you are done, you will also realize how amazing your body feels. And how much stronger you are from the last time you worked out.
I am noticing that I am leaning out quite a bit all over. My shoulders definitely look stronger. My core feels so much stronger, which is a big part of this workout. They want to help you build a strong core, hence Core De Force.
What’s on the schedule for week 3:
Monday: MMA Power + Core Kinetics
Tuesday: Dynamic Strength + 5 Min. Core on the Floor
Wednesday: MMA Power + Core Kinetics
Thursday: Power Sculpt + 5 Min. Core on the Floor
Friday: MMA Plyo
Saturday: Dynamic Strength + 5 Min. Core on the Floor
Sunday: Rest day
Meals for the week:
Monday: Ground beef lettuce tacos with house fries
Tuesday: Roasted chicken and veggies
Wednesday: Chorizo and Kale soup from Lexie’s Clean Kitchen cookbook
Thursday: Ground beef meatballs and bacon spinach
Friday & Saturday: Leftovers
Sunday: shop and prep
The meals scheduled can always be switched around the days depending on what happens, but that is what I have ready to make at any moment. I like to be prepared and not spend all my money eating out.
First, big news. I am officially finished with sixty days of 22 Minute Hard Corps. It was not easy. It pushed me physically, but it was awesome and I feel amazing.
My before and after photos and entire summary will be blogged really soon. I am so happy with how I look and feel. I truly believe this is a program anyone can do. You will see results if you are consistent.
But for those of you who are literally feeling like you are struggling to find some ground when it comes to your weight loss goals, I hear you.
It is not easy getting started. We see folks doing all of these seemingly complicated workouts and nutrition plans and we want to jump in on them too. They aren’t bad, but then we realize, once we start, what we got ourselves into.
And then we feel overwhelmed. We look at what we want to achieve and then we see our schedules and we feel defeated.
But it doesn’t have to be that way!
Let’s keep it simple, Mama!
We don’t have to make fitness complicated. We don’t have to make clean eating complicated. We can keep it simple, make it work for our schedules, and feel good in the process.
And yes, we can begin the journey towards habits and real results that will last for a lifetime.
On March 13th, I am kicking off a FREE 7 day Keep it Simple fitness and clean eating group!
Here is what you can expect:
*My favorite healthy and EASY recipes that you can make for your entire family.
*A featured workout move or workout from Beachbody On Demand (if you already have a membership, you can use whatever workout you want. Don’t have a membership? Get a FREE 30 day TRIAL!)
Any workouts shown will be 30 minutes or less. See? Simple!
*Busy Girl/Mama encouragement (from a fellow busy wife and mama who gets it!)
*An inside look as to how I workout and eat healthy when dealing with a full plate. And most of all, how to KEEP IT SIMPLE and not stressful!
*Tips and more that will help you establish healthy habits and work toward your own health and fitness goals.
You must commit by Sunday, March 12th. I would hate to start without you!!!!
Some ground rules:
*If you are a coach, or you are already working with a Beachbody Coach, this group does not apply to you.
*This group is free, yes, but you still need to show up. 80% of your success will be the willingness to put in the effort. I can’t reach your goals for you. You MUST show up.
*Have fun. Yep. I said it. I know that seems like an oxymoron, but really, once you discover your soulmate workout and a way of eating that works for you, it is fun. You feel more energized and pushing play or going for that run won’t seem like a chore all the time. You will begin to love how you feel.
Ready to hop in? Comment on this post or shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to get plugged in! I am so excited to embark on this seven day journey with you!
Be a Size You,
Finally, I am able to sit down and type out my greatest takeaways from the New Leader Conference that I had the privilege of being invited to attend this past weekend.
If you don’t know what the New Leader Conference (referred from here on out as the NLC), it is an annual conference that Beachbody holds for those who achieve Two Star Diamond and above in their business and they are invited to attend after meeting qualifications. It is a once in a lifetime invitation for us coaches, so I can’t attend next year as a Leader to this event. This was my one time!
I arrived to the JW Marriott Hotel at LA Live in Los Angeles, California and immediately I was able to attend the pre conference party and grab a quick photo with Carl Diakeler, Beachbody’s CEO. He is an amazing human being. I was able to chat with many of the staff members that work at Beachbody and they culture he has created with this company is unparalleled to any other company out there. If you are a staff member at Beachbody, you cannot be a Coach, and many of them said that if they quit their job tomorrow, they would immediately want to sign up as a coach because they have absolutely fallen in love with the vision Carl has created with Team Beachbody and the Coach family. That says a lot to me about the company I am partnered with. They want to be a part of what we are doing in helping people live healthier lives. It is not about pitching products. It is about the revolution to help people.
The next morning, we got to tour the Beachbody HQ’s in Santa Monica. What an amazing company. I went live on my FB page as I toured the facility and it made me so excited. They had a Shakeology Bar and their very own Shakista (like a barista!), a HUGE gym with a multiple TV’s so employees could workout via Beachbody on Demand. They had two large kitchens stocked with Shakeology, Shakeology Boosts, performance formulas, and healthy fruits and veggies for snacking during their work day.
It was a pretty amazing day and it felt like the tour went by really fast. There was so much to see and I was just in awe of the offices. I have worked in offices before and they are nothing like Beachbody! I would so work there!
Later that day, we had our opening sessions and trainings with top coaches in the network. More on my takeaways from those sessions in just a little bit.
That night, we had a cocktail party and we got to take pictures with Joel and Jericho, who co-created the Core De Force fitness program (which is what I will be doing next after I complete 22 Minute Hard Corps). I also had a chance to connect with some other coaches and learn what they were doing in their businesses and how they helped their coaches be better. I loved hearing everyone’s story because honestly, every coach had a different struggle or a difference resource that pushed them to get to where they are. There is truly no one size fits all coach. I failed to mention that there were only about 250 coaches that qualified to attend this conference so everyone was super friendly and willing to share their knowledge with you. It made stepping out of your comfort zone (especially if you are an introvert like me!) a little bit easier.
The next morning, we got our butts handed to us by Joel and Jericho!!!!!
Core de Force is no joke and it was such an amazing workout. I was so sore the next day when I had to head home. My arms, abs, and lower body were definitely feeling the after affects!
It was amazing. And I heard through the grapevine that they will be registering soon for those who want to get certified to teach Core De Force Live at our annual Coach conference this year. What do you think friends? Should I do it? I got certified to teach Cize, so maybe I should add one more! It is an awesome workout!
We had breakfast and Shakeology (of course! Healthiest meal of the day!), then I cleaned up real fast and headed to our next sessions with the top coaches in the network. We also got to hear from Darin Olien, the co-creator of Shakeology, and he really broke down bit by bit why he fought so hard to create a product like Shakeology and why the ingredients in Shakeology are the best the WORLD has to offer and from the best, most nutrient dense soils. He travels around the world to do his research. Hearing him share and hearing his passion come through about nutrition. It is not just about getting people to buy a shake. Their very health and lives are involved! We want them healthy!
At then end of the conference, we were asked to share one word that would perfectly describe why we were proud to be a part of Team Beachbody. Each person had so many different words that they chose, and each word had a story that was attached to it.
My word? Persevere.
I will share more on my word really soon, but what I see in the coaches is that no matter what, we persevere. Helping people choose health and fitness is not easy. It is not as easy as buying new clothes that they can instantly put on and feel cute in. Or skin care. It is not instantaneous. We aren’t in the business of microwave results. it takes a lot of hard work and sometimes, the results are months in the making. But we push through the no’s, we push past the doubts and even the criticism from those who don’t believe in what we are doing, because ultimately we know that there are those out there who need encouragement, support and hope in their struggle.
They need the push to fight for their own life, and we as Coaches get to do that. We get to help them fight.
We get to see them LIVE again.
My heart is so full after this incredible weekend. I am excited for my new coaches who will be joining my upcoming New Coach bootcamp (still time to join us!). I am still trying to process it all and sharing it with my team. I have encouraged them to put the NLC on their goal board for next year.
It is a must attend event!
Thank you Beachbody for allowing me the opportunity to attend. It was so incredible. Words fail me. What Carl and the rest of the team have created for us coaches is superb and it is an honor to be a part of it.
I am lying in my hotel room bed right this minute as I type this post. I have just finished an incredible conference with fellow new leaders in Beachbody, who earned the right to be here. We had to be invited in order to come.
My heart is so full of so many incredible messages, stories, encouragement, and good training. I have so much to share, but I must take the time to process it all. Will blog more soon!
For right now, let’s recap how week 7 has done for 22 Minute HC!
On Monday, I hit a wall. For anyone who has done a program and get near the final two weeks, you hit that moment where you feel like you have done enough and you can stop. But I was and still am determined to finish this program. I told myself I would do it. I would PERSEVERE through it (more on why that word is so meaningful in another post) and make it happen.
It was hard, but Week 7 ended strong. Monday through Friday, I was able to stick to the calendar. Saturday, I was at NLC 2017 and worked out with Joel and Jericho from Core De Force. But come Monday, it is back to finishing up my last week of 22.
I am a little sad it is over. It has been such a tough program for me physically, but I have fallen in love with it. I would tell everyone to do it! I mean, it is 22 minutes long! You absolutely can do anything in 22 minutes. I wish fellow mamas like myself wouldn’t put themselves down and would stop believing that they are not capable of erasing old habits and creating new ones and transforming their lives to be healthier. If you are a momma and you believe that, stop right now. Change your attitude. Believe me when I say that if I, an average, nothing special woman, can do this, YOU can too!
On deck for this week:
Monday: Resistance 3
Tuesday: Cardio 3 and Core 2
Wednesday: Resistance 2
Thursday: Cardio 2 and Core 2
Friday: Resistance 3
Saturday: Cardio 3 and Core 2
Sunday: Final fit test! Take measurements and photos!!! Aaaaahhhhh!
Menu hasn’t been planned since I am not at home this moment, but stay tuned!
Can you seriously believe we are finished with Week 5 of this program? I can’t.
I am still amazed that I have been going strong with this program. I am not lying when I said the first time, I quit after two weeks 😂.
But let me show you what is capable in five weeks:
Stronger arms. A flatter belly. A greater appreciation for short workouts that push you but get you results.
Working out LESS but eating more. What?! Yes.
It was even that time of the month and ladies, we all know how rough that can be sometimes.
My body blew right past it. It did not slow me down in the slightest. I was a tad bit more tired (I tend to run low on iron during that time), but I just made sure to eat more foods rich in iron this week with plenty more protein and healthy fats so that I didn’t always reach for the salty chips, which was what I would normally do.
I am not doing the Whole 30 anymore, but I am still eating a mostly Paleo diet. It is working really well for me and for Dan. While Dan is not doing 22, he has been riding his mountain bike and then cross training at the gym. He is slimming down quite a bit and he feels amazing. So proud of my guy!
I have also noticed my back muscles are becoming more developed. I don’t have a pull up bar so I have to use resistance bands, so it might take longer for those to show, but they seem to be developing. And that makes me really happy. I am a girl who loves muscles. I am far more interested in that than the scale. The scale can’t measure my muscles. But pictures can!
No new meals this week. I will be testing out some new recipes during week six so I will be sure to share if those are a win!
Finishing up my first month of 22 Minute Hard Corps and I could not be more excited. I think this has become a new favorite program for me. If you know me, you know that it has taken me multiple tries to even get through one full week of Tony Horton’s fitness programs. I don’t know why it was so hard for me, but this time I was determined to do this program from start to finish. And now I am nearly 30 days in. Yes!!!!
I see some of you watching me and following me, and encouraging me on my social media pages. And it means so much. But now, I don’t want you to just watch.
I want you to join me.
Yes, I want you to join me in doing 22 Minute Hard Corps. The entire program. From start to finish.
I have my next bootcamp starting soon, and guess what?
You can do this workout entirely from your home.
But you won’t be alone. You will have me.
You will get 60 days of workouts that are 22 minutes long and guaranteed to kick your butt and get you results, as long as you push play!
You will get a nutrition guide from the program so that you will properly fuel your body, PLUS I will be sharing with you the meals that my family and I have enjoyed while I have been on this program. Do not think diet food. We are talking REAL food that your entire family will love, as well as special tips for those of you with picky eaters.
You will also be drinking your daily dose of dense nutrition and/or taking Beachbody Performance. I am going to be real with you. You need either both Shakeology and performance or one of them. You want optimal results? Follow the system. Don’t short cut it. I have been drinking Shakeology and using Beachbody Performance Energize and it has made a huge difference in my performance and longevity. Don’t kid yourself. I am not in the business of kind of making you healthy and get in shape. I want to help you transform inside and out.
You will be plugged into an online virtual community created by me with other women who will be doing this program (or others if they are doing Beachbody on Demand…more on that in a bit). There, I will encourage, motivate, work out with you, post recipes, tips, and so much more. This group is for your benefit.
If you like the idea of 22 Minute Hard Corps, but you like more variety for your workouts (especially if you will be working out at home), then I highly suggest the All Access Beachbody on Demand membership package. You get access to hundreds of workouts, even new ones that will be launched in 2017, and it is for the whole year. Plus, you get your first 30 days of Shakeology as well. For way less than what you would pay for a gym membership, nutritionist, and personal trainer combined. Seriously.
I am ready to help you reach your goals. If you have more questions, fill out the contact tap or email me at email@example.com
It has been a crazy busy week over here at the Harper’s. First, Madi had a swim meet and she did so well.
I am so dang proud of that girl.
She did really well. It was a learning experience for her as well. Her first race she was disqualified in the 50 M Breastroke because she didn’t touch the wall with two hands when she finished. Heartbroken to say the least, but now, she knows what to do!
Second race was the 50 Freestyle and she did amazing! Her time was 42:33 and we are so proud of her. She finished 4th in her Heat. I know she is ready to go for her next meet and kill it. Love my Fit Kids.
For the Whole 30, it was harder to stay on it, especially since Dan and I were staying with family this weekend and they are not following Whole 30. I am finding that Dan and I are embracing the Paleo lifestyle a lot and I think this will be something we will continue to follow, with some modifications. I will still be drinking Shakeology everyday because it is a part of my nutrition plan and it makes me feel really good. Our whole family drinks it so I don’t think we will be stopping anytime soon.
Our favorite meal of the week was the Beef and Veggie Stir fry from Practical Paleo.
If you have some skirt steak or chicken and a ton of leftover veggies, you need to make this dish. Easy and quick! And nutritious!
Plus, with leftovers, Dan would heat up some of the stir fry, fry an egg and fuel up before he went on a bike ride or before he left for work. I had a bunch for leftovers for lunch as well.
I finished up week 3 of 22 Minute Hard Corps. You guys, this workout has pushed me so much! I love that it works multiple muscle groups, I get cardio in (you all know I hate cardio), and it is done in 22 minutes. If you are someone who feels like they are working out a lot and aren’t seeing the results you want, give 22 a try! I think you might be surprised!!!!
I still haven’t taken photos, because I am a total slacker. Haha! I will do it! Perhaps I will wait until after the final week is done, that way I can see my 30 day progress and then push myself even more based on what needs to change (if anything).
Well, that is all folks! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey so far. I can’t wait to keep sharing with you guys and I hope that you see that no matter where you are starting from, you can become healthier and feel good inside and put. Self care is important!
