Friday Favorites Roundup

Happy Friday, friends!

We made it to the end of the week and the weekend is upon us.  I am so dang excited for the weekend. Why?

Because on Sunday, I leave for Laughlin. Yaaasss! I will be traveling with my Mama for a late birthday getaway and I can’t wait to plop my butt in the river and just relax.  Sometimes, when you start to wig out, you need a break.  And my favorite place to relax is by the river. So excited!

I have decided that each week, I will do a Friday Favorites Roundup of my favorite things that happened or I saw or I read or purchased. I love being inspired by pretty things, and I am sure many of you do too!

I got these amazing 1. state Iddah Performance Cutaway booties at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale as a birthday gift to myself and they are gorgeous! They come in so many colors.  I originally had wanted a different color, but after I placed my order, I got an email letting me know that the color I had wanted had sold out. So I went online and bought the black instead.  They are so cute and they are great with dresses and with jeans. Love them!

I have been obsessed with graphic tee’s and pretty skirts lately.  I had purchased this limited edition Lularoe Metallic skirt sometime during the holiday season last year, but I never got to wear it.  This week, I decided to wear it with my Greatest Commandment Tee from Cross Training Couture.  For the skirt, since mine was a limited edition piece, I am not sure many LLR consultants will still have them, but you can find similar pieces here , here, here.

It is no secret that I do enjoy cooking, but I truly don’t have a ton of time, especially now that school is back in session and baseball will be starting up soon, and not to mention swim has never ended! Holy cow!  I know I am really late to the Instant Pot game, but I finally tried it out awhile ago, and I am in love. So much that I got rid of my slow cooker, since my instant pot has the slow cooker function on it. The one that is linked is on sale, and I am not sure if it is still available, but you can definitely try and see if it is!  When they drop in price, they go fast!

I made an incredible dish called Lemon Garlic chicken from Predominately Paleo and it was a huge hit!  My husband wasn’t too sure about the Zoodles I had with the dish, but he gobbled it up so I call that a win in my book. And he even ate left overs…….yaaaaaassssss!

I also seem to be obsessed with anything blush when it comes to workout apparel.  I fully believe that when you buy yourself new workout clothes and gear, you are far more motivated to crush it. Yes? No? This is what I tell myself anyway! My husband and wallet may disagree with me, but that is my story and I am sticking to it! These are some of the things I am crushing on right now and are currently  on my want to buy real soon list.

And last, I am so inspired by my Back to School, Mama community. We started on Monday, and they are seriously crushing it! I am one proud coach as I know when you are a busy mama and things get super busy, it can be so hard to get into a healthy routine for yourself, but these women are willing to try and do it. And they are succeeding and pushing me to stay committed. I love it!!!
What inspired you this week? I would love to hear!

Some Words Don’t Need to be Repeated

My husband and I are very different in how we respond to criticism and doubt in regards to our dreams and abilities.

I am completely stubborn. I don’t respond to the words “You Can’t” very easily. I don’t like hearing about how limited I am in my education, abilities, or resources.

I respond 95% of the time with the attitude of watch me. I will literally stare you in the face as you tell me I can’t do something, and smile at you.

That sounds passive aggressive, I know, and I don’t mean for it to be. It is just that those hurtful and critical words are used as fuel for me.

Not so for my husband.

He is far more sensitive than I. He chooses words carefully. When he was younger, he had a learning disability and struggled in school. He had a high school counselor tell him that he probably wouldn’t excel in college. (Between you and me, that absolutely ticks me off and I would so have words with her.) Those words wounded him. So much so that he figured he would just go into the military.

And then my husband became a pastor. A kid who struggled to read and hated speaking up in class, would speak on stage week after week to college age kids and services at church. And he was amazing at it.

Today, I realized again how different we are in how we respond to those who doubt our abilities.

I repeated something that I shouldn’t have to him. Not that I was supposed to keep it a secret. Someone expressed their doubts about his ability to do something, and me, being offended for him and having my “We’ll show you attitude” I repeated the words and declared that this will only fuel us.

Only, it didn’t fuel him.

It broke him.

I started to walk away confident and determined, and instead, I watched my strong, handsome, and compassionate husband begin to cry.

Have you ever seen a man cry? It is the most heartbreaking thing in the world.

His spirit was broken because I chose to repeat something that really shouldn’t have been repeated. He did not respond the way I do to hurtful criticism.

It breaks his spirit instead.

And that breaks my heart.

I absolutely believe God made me a strong woman, especially mentally. My stubbornness that many take as a weakness, can used for good.

God made my husband a tender warrior. He listens far better than I do, and he is far more compassionate than I am.

He is a far better leader than I am.

I felt so bad for the words I repeated. Even though they were not what I thought were the truth, I was offended for him, my repeating them was just as hurtful. I have to own that part.

Ladies, we are so different from our spouses. We have to remember that just because someone else says it, does not mean we need to repeat it.

Let’s use our words when talking to our husband’s to encourage and uplift. Some things don’t need to be repeated. If others don’t believe in your spouse, please don’t add to the noise. Fight for him. Edify with your words. Show him love and support by actively serving him and meeting his needs. Be selfless, not selfish.

It was a hard, but good lesson for me today as to how different Dan and I are. But it is good that we are a little different. The more we mess up together, the more we can see what each other really needs.

From Dreamer to Hope Dealer

I am so proud of the work I get to do as a Beachbody Coach.

I know many folks are now shying away from working in any sort of network marketing company. Usually for reasons that are understandable.

*It is too salesy
*I don't want to be that friend.
*It is all a pyramid scheme
*Only the people at the top make money
*People who work in those type of businesses only care about money.

I hear ya. I had all of those reasons too. I didn't want to be that person. I didn't want to be annoying. I worried about what others would think.

But when I started working on my health and fitness journey back in 2011, and then I started sharing my journey and transformation with others, and then others were telling me how my encouragement helped them to get started, I realized I had found my calling.

No, not in fitness, surprisingly, although I do enjoy fitness and health and eating healthy. And I love Beachbody's programs and Shakeology and supplements.

No, I had found my calling in being a story teller, and pushing people to move from just dreaming about it to doing it.

I became a hope Dealer.

I joined a team of hope dealers.

Here is the deal. I can workout every day and tell you that you should workout too, but I can't make you do it.

But if I constantly tell you my story, and I invite you to join me in this story, so that you begin telling yours…..then I have done my job.

I have had women join my fitness groups who felt discouraged from the very beginning because they didn't believe they could ever finish a fitness program from start to finish simply because they had failed in the past.

My job is to help you see and know that yes, you can.

I don't preach quick fixes. Heck no. This whole working out and eating to nourish deal is for life. You need lifetime habits, girlfriend.

I also help women recognize their dreams for their families. Meaning, they have the opportunity to change their financial future simply by working and doing what I do. There are no guarantees. They have to work. They have to treat it like a job they show up to every day, but I am watching women on my team quit their full time jobs to stay at home, and contribute income and help their family and spouses.

That is hope made possible.

I get to help women who are broken and discouraged, whether due to their health or their life, and walk with them to see transformation. From broken to whole.

Working in health and fitness has very little to do with fitness programs. Those are just products to sell. And they are amazing products/tools that people can use to get healthy. They work.

But the real work, the most inspiring work, the most gratifying work is the work behind the scenes. Working with your friends who also love Jesus and are fellow hope dealers.

And watching lives be transformed.

I am looking for more women like this.

Hello dreamers who want to be hope dealers.

I am taking on 5 women to join my team. Join my mission to help women love the skin they are in, transform their life and the lives of others.

Is that woman you?

I would love to chat with you to see if Team Be a Size You would be a good fit for you.

You can apply here, and I will schedule an appointment to chat.

Don't be afraid of asking. You have nothing to lose by learning more. No pressure.

Just possible dreams being realized.

5 Minute Beauty for My Fabulous Sister Friends!

With a show of hands, how many of you feel like you just don’t have time in the day to put on makeup?

Me!!! Sometimes, the days are just too busy and honestly, I just do not want to be spending hours in front of the mirror putting on makeup and getting ready for the day. I just don’t.

I am sure many of you don’t want to either. Unless we work in the makeup industry, honestly, we don’t have time.

But, we do like to have a little color on our face and not look like we are constantly sleep deprived (even if we are…..hello mamas of newborns!)

I have a 5 minute beauty routine that I have relatively mastered that allows me to look put together, but I look natural as well.

Fresh, awake, and ready to go. That is what I like. A little light foundation, concealer, blush, mascara and lip color go a long way. I also do my brows each day (Mine are funky!) so if you don’t do your brows, you look may be as quick as 3 minutes. SCORE!

I am sharing some of my favorite products that help me achieve a really easy and quick yet put together look. Obviously, we all have very different skin types and pigmentation, but I have found that most of the products listed work pretty well for everyone, and they have shades to match.

Enjoy!!

Would love to hear about your beauty routine!  What are your favorite must have products for a quick and easy and gorgeous look?

Back to School for Mama

Happy Monday! Let’s kick off this amazing new week, shall we?

Today is day one of my Back to School virtual fitness group and I am so excited for the gals who decided to jump in an participate.  I know with school starting and everyone adjusting to new schedules, this can be sort of a challenge, but it is not impossible.

For the next thirty days, these women will be working out a fitness program, following a nutrition guide, drinking their daily dose of dense nutrition, and checking in daily for accountability of support.

They will be doing a program that we picked out together. Everyone is different, so I made sure they are doing something that words for their lifestyle and their goals.

I will personally be doing Round 2 of the Shift Shop, drinking Beachbody Performance Energize and Shakeology, and following the nutrition guide in the fitness program and modifying it a little bit to fit my nutritional needs (I follow a more Paleolithic lifestyle diet).

They will get to workout in the comfort of their own home, but also have a cheerleader (ME!) working alongside them the entire way so they can get the results they are wanting.

Why did I create a group like this?

Because honestly, I got tired of seeing mom’s post about how it was impossible to get into a routine because of their kids, when in reality, I truly believed that a little time invested into their own health and self care would be worth it.

We do it for our family, not in spite of them.

I know it isn’t easy.  I had been there, still am. Mamas, we are so busy. It seems like I sound like a broken record when I say this, but it is true. We are busy, but we can workout and eat healthy and it doesn’t have to be a prison sentence.

I wish you could all see how worth the investment really is when we decide to invest in our health as opposed to only investing or doing something about it when our healthy is in danger. Why not get in front of it instead of trying to catch up?

Why do we always say no to ourselves when it comes to our health?

Do we say no to making sure our kids are healthy and have what they need so they can thrive?

Why do you say it to yourself? Do you really believe you aren’t worth it?

These women in my group decided they were worth it.

My hope is that one day, every woman will see that they are worth it, too.

Tiffany

Back To School Ideas for Kids

My kids start school soon, and lately, we have been shopping and trying to pick out some outfit essentials so that the kids feel their best, also allows them to move with ease and function. I remember as a kid, I didn't want to be limited in movement when I came to my wardrobe. I wanted to be able to still run and plan, but I also didn't want to look like a slob either!

My kids enjoy shopping at Old Navy, and they are having a Back to School sale right now (and if you shop online, I believe you can get an additional 30% off of your order), I thought I would share some of my favorite items that I saw while browsing.

For girls:
I love a good top, especially when it could be worn with many different things.

I saw something similar to this for women at Nordstrom. So on trend!

Graphic tees always are a hit!!

Chambray tops are a staple in every closet.

This jacket!!! Love!!!!

Such a cute dress!

I need those pink high tops in my size. And those colored leggings! Love!

My husband cries every time I go shopping with Madi. It is dangerous, people!

For the boys:

My son has a shirt like this with hot dogs on it. Yes. Hot dogs. It is awesome!!!

If your boy needs a cool bomber jacket, we really liked this one!

I like to grab these style shirts for Sean in a variety of colors. They are a simple style, but they go great with jeans and shorts, and Sean always looks good in them. They are really great for cooler weather.

Dry Fit shirts are a must. My son plays constantly, so we need plenty of these around.

Sean really likes Old Navy's shorts, but he doesn't care for their denim. I only buy the Denizen by Levi brand for Sean, which can be found at Target. But these shorts fit him pretty well.

We have also had awesome luck with Old Navy's shoes for Sean! Those high tops and sneakers! So cool!!!

This is obviously a pretty small list, but that is just what I saw at Old Navy online and I thought I would share with you. Happy shopping!!!

When do your kids go back to school? Or did they already start?

Tiffany

*Disclosure: Old Navy did not pay or provide any clothes or goods with this blog post. All opinions are my own.*

Self Care is Not Just For Fitness

You have probably heard that word, self care, a whole lot. Usually, it goes along with someone who is inviting you to join them on a journey towards being healthier and being more fit.

That is definitely part of it! A healthy body is part of the whole self care movement, but that is not the only piece! There are so many ways we busy mamas can take care of ourselves so that we can pour into those we love and give ourselves to the ministries and passions we are focused on.

Here are some of my favorite ways to get in a little me time:

*Getting my hair/nails done
*Massage
*Facials
*shopping (Did you see my last blog post?)
*Night out with the girls
*Reading an uplifting book
*Learning a new skill
*Soothing music
*Bath time and using my favorite essential oils/natural skin care products
*Going to the beach or any place that has water
*Hiking or fun outdoor activity with girlfriends
*Study a new topic
*Exercise
*Try a new healthy food restaurant
*Test out a new recipe or bake something yummy
*Blogging/writing
*Being creative and putting together pretty outfits for myself, friends, and family.
*Singing, by myself, out loud in my home.
*Taking a nap! (Do it!)

As you can see, there are so many ways to fill your tank. We give a ton to those around us. If you are a mama, you probably feel like you are constantly running on empty.

But, it is hard to pour into others if you yourself are running on empty. It really is.

Fill your tank, then let that overflow into others.

We are such a busy society! Who the heck told us that in order to be great or worth anything, we had to run ourselves ragged? Who said busier was better?

Who said being a wife and mom was an act of a martyr? Um no.

There are sacrifices, yes. Obviously. But being a wife and a mom isn't a prison sentence. It isn't horrible. Let's knock that off.

Let's take care of ourselves and do things that bring us beauty, joy, pleasure, and then let's bring those very things to those we love.

What are your favorite ways to practice self care?

Mom Chic for Fall

Fall?!

I know. For those of you who live in Southern California, it is not even close to fall weather. We are still seeing 100 degree temps. The image of sweaters, booties, jeans and leggings sends us into hives!

But, in case you didn't know, I am not a normal California girl. I am so excited for Fall!

Fall to me means:

College Football (Go Trojans!)
Warm lattes
Fire place
Cooler temps
Cute clothes!

There is just something about boots and sweaters and skinny jeans that gets me so excited. I like to shop ahead of time and browse my favorite online boutiques, or even hit some of the sales to score some really cute pieces.

My family and I had a HUGE garage sale to get rid of a lot of stuff we had accumulated over the last several years. I am embarrassed by how much of that was clothes that we no longer wore.

You guys. What the heck??!! That is horrendous! No one should have that many clothes!!!

Thankfully, a lot of sweet mamas and kids were able to buy some new to them items, and the rest that weren't sold, we were able to give away. Huge win and relief. I don't want to be a hoarder.

But back to the reason for this post: for my mamas who are looking to be chic and comfy for Fall.

It is not impossible. I promise, even for those of you who are in the middle of nursing babes and lacking sleep, you can still look and feel good. I also have a 5 Minute beauty routine that I personally use to help me look wide awake (even if I need four or five cups of coffee!)

It doesn't take much. I promise.

For those of you who are looking for effortless style, here is what I have found lately that I am loving.

Shoes:

I am a sucker for a good bootie. I am really digging the fact that gray colors are considered neutrals and that they go with everything!!! Everything!!! Dresses, jeans, skirts,

These particular pair I found from a site I am in love with and is fairly new to me called Gray Monroe.

Some more shoes that are a little more on the high end, but are gorgeous nonetheless can be found at Nordstrom. Please tell me you took advantage of the anniversary sale this weekend! I did and I got these really cute booties in black:

I wanted to grab these ones as well in Greystone, but I decided to wait. We will see about November.

I also saw some amazing tops that I thought would be perfect for a play date, school activities, errands, and even date night.

These styles are also available from Gray Monroe and they get new arrivals each week. Also, if you sign up for their email list, you get first dibs on sales and specials and new arrivals. Yay!!!

I am so eyeing that mauve off the shoulder top and the cream sweater. Those are mine! 😍😍

Are you excited for Fall? Or are you clinging on to summer and dreading the changing of the seasons?

And most importantly, who is your favorite College Football team? I must know these things!

Beachbody’s Newest Fitness Program, The Shift Shop, is HERE!

I always get excited when a new fitness program is released because it challenges me to step out of my comfort zones and try something new.

I have obviously tried many fitness programs and I have loved many, while not liking others. That is part of fitness right? You won’t love EVERY fitness program or workout you try.  That is not realistic. But thinking that you may not like it is not a reason to not try.

I also think people are just intimidated by fitness programs because they just seem really hard and they aren’t sure they can keep up.

Enter in The Shift Shop!

What is the Shift Shop?

It is a 3 week fitness AND nutrition program that is mean to help you:

*Get in Peak Shape

*lose 10 pounds

*get in a quality workout in 24-45 minutes

It Includes:

*New workouts weekly

*A nutrition guide (because we all know that you can’t just workout. You must feed your body!

*Chris Downing is an NASM certified trainer (which means he knows what he is talking about!!)

*Modifications for every workout.

It was officially released today on Beachbody Demand and in fitness and nutrition packs. I will officially be starting this program on July 24th (Yep, I will do it with all of you!) because I am super excited to see Chris push me and see what my results will be.

If you are a visual person, like me, I like to see videos of what I may be getting myself into. Here is a great video for you to check out!

My group will begin on July 24th. You will want to decide right away that you are in it to complete this three week program.  There are different options for you to choose from in regards to how you want to obtain your program, but I highly recommend doing the Annual All Access fitness and nutrition pack, because not only is The Shift Shop included, but once you are ready to do a new program, you will have access to thousands of Beachbody’s other fitness programs in your living room or wherever you choose to workout. YES!

And just so you know, I pay less for a year’s worth of unlimited workouts (with celebrity trainers by the way!) than most people pay for their yearly gym membership.

I am taking 5 spots for this group.  If you would like to be a part of this 3 week game changing program, fill out the contact information below, and I will connect with you asap!

*Please note: I can only take those who are not currently Beachbody coaches or are actively working with a coach.  Only open to U.S., Canada, & Puerto Rico*

Must Have Equipment for Your Home Gym

I have been working out at home for the last 7 years and have not had a gym membership in almost 10 years…even when I wasn’t working out!  Haha!

When I decided to begin my own Be a Size You journey and take care of myself, I knew that a gym membership would have been ideal, but with two young kids and not a ton of time, I really believed that I would have just set myself up for failure by trying to fit in the driving time to the gym. So my husband and I decided that creating a simple space for me to workout at home would be optimal. Plus, I could workout on my own time and not compete with others for machines etc.

I started out really simple: A yoga mat, a couple of weights ( 2 pounds, 3 pounds and 5 pounds!), one resistance band, a workout DVD (and some YouTube), and an old pair of shoes.  That’s it!

For those of you who are just beginning your journey and you are looking to begin creating your workout space at home, trust me when I say you don’t need all the bells and whistles.  You just need a good attitude, willing to spend a little bit of money for tools, and a tiny bit of space to store your tools (notice I didn’t say a ton of space…I will explain why in a bit.)

Here are some of my must haves for your home gym, and a few extras that I think would be great to have if you have additional room in your budget. Most of these can be found on my fitness shopping site, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to shoot me an email. I am here to help!

Beachbody on Demand: Yes. This is necessary. It provides every single fitness program Beachbody has ever created, including the nutrition guides and tips for those programs.  Plus, if you do the annual membership (and get it as a bundle with Shakeology or Beachbody Performance) you save a ton of money.  I am all about having the right tools, but saving money!

Resistance Bands:

I love resistance bands because they offer a different kind of resistance than weights.  Generally, dumbbells are used primarily for upper body exercises and some lower body, but I love that resistance bands can help you build muscles and work on your entire body.  It is a versatile tool and I think it is a must have for those who are creating a home gym. Plus, they aren’t that expensive. Yes!!!!!

Balance Ball:

If you can’t afford a workout bench, and you are really wanting a gym like atmosphere as well as a way to do the strength training exercises that you are used to with gym equipment, a balance ball is a must have. It is great for core work, balance work, resistance work, and also makes a great chair to use while you are working (so you can still work on your core, and work on your posture!)

Yoga Mat:

A yoga mat is needed for Piyo or Yoga or any low impact exercises that require you to be on the floor the majority of the time.  I workout on carpet, but I still enjoy having that cushion barrier between my body and the floor (because, germs and bugs LOL!)

Weights in different pounds.  I don’t have a photo of these, but you can find any weights on Amazon, Target, sporting goods store.  Really, just buy a couple in different weight (one light and one heavy) and you can add as you build muscle.

Now I will share some bonus tools that, if you have some extra room in your budget or you are looking to add to your home gym, you should definitely grab them!

Bowflex Selecttech Weights:

This is on my wish list.  They are not cheap, but if you are looking to eliminate the amount of weights you have to just one adjustable system, these are a must have!!! Amazon always has a good deal running for these, so I highly recommend checking them out there.  I am trying to convince Dan to let me buy these for my birthday next month LOL.  Yes please!

Plyometrics Jump Mat:

A Jump mat would be really good to have, especially if you workout on a hard surface like your garage or you have hard wood floors.  Honestly, plyometrics are hard on the body and especially on your knees. Springy shoes and a springy mat helps a lot with the impact of plyometrics, and can protect you as well.  Obviously, you can always modify and not fully jump through your Plyo workouts, but if you are choosing to jump, this is a great workout tool.

Foam Roller:

I actually believe a Foam Roller should be a necessity in your home gym (think a really inexpensive massage that you can have all the time!) but a lot of people don’t realize the benefits of foam rolling at first. However, for those of us who have been working out our bodies for awhile, foam rolling hurts so good!!  Muscles get tight and sore and they need some TLC, so rolling over those places that you have worked hard helps to heal them and recover.

Strength Slides:

Strength Slides were created to add additional resistance to your Piyo workouts, but really, if you want to take your lower body workouts to the next level, then these are really fun to have! It won’t feel fun when you are doing them, but you will love the results when using them. Perfect for hard floor and carpet!

And that’s it for now!!!  Would love to hear about some of your favorite home gym tools that you have.  Do you have a large area for your workouts? Or is your space small? Mine is small. You don’t need a ton of place to store your equipment, but grabbing a few inexpensive baskets or buckets so they can be placed out of site (for your peace of mind) is useful as well.  I live in a small home right now, so I have a closet designated for my equipment, but when I lived in our trailer on the ranch, I used those big plastic bins and stored them underneath our trailer in one of the compartments. Totally possible. You just have to be willing to be creative.

As always, here to help!  Next week, I will be sharing some of my favorite items to have in the kitchen to cook your healthy meals!

Be a Size You,

Tiffany
