Fad’s Are Fun, But Do They Provide Lasting Results?

Of course, if someone were to ask you that question, you would say no.  You might even shout it from the rooftops that “fads don’t work, so stop following them.”

And I would agree with you, 100 percent.

But here is the thing: A lot of us say that fads don’t work, but we are using them and falling for them every time they rear their ugly head.

Why?

Well, for starters, look at the promises they make!  Great health and weight loss in a matter days, weeks.

You don’t have to spend a whole year getting the results you want, just do this for a month and your life will be changed.

Sometimes, they even tell you that you don’t have to change your eating habits or physical activity.  Just pop a pill, drink a shake, do this procedure, and everything will be good.

Sometimes, you are required to change your eating habits, but they make you go through extreme processes such as eliminating certain foods (carbohydrates, fruit etc)

Here are some numbers that I found in regards to fad diets and what they are truly producing in our health and fitness (Information found here):

*More than 1 in 20 adults are considered to be extremely obese.

*In 2010, 54% of adults said they were currently on a diet. 

*The number of Americans who regularly consume low calorie, sugar free foods and beverages: 187 million.

*About 33% of kids between 6-19 years of age are considered to be overweight or obese.

*Fad diets are more likely to work when 150 minutes of exercise is completed every week.

*65% of people who successfully complete a fad diet will end up gaining all of their weight back that the lost.

There is so much more where that came from.  To be fair, any diet will work.  Anytime you limit your calorie intake for a period of time, and you replace the junk food with healthier options, you will see some sort of result in your weight loss journey.

Here is what fad diets prey on: The mentality of cheap, fast, easy. And, the longevity of their product or resource that they are offering changes as often as the trends do.

Let me cut it down to size for you, stop falling for the fads.  Stop allowing them to make it confusing for you when it comes to your health and fitness journey.

I know that to say move your body and eat nourishing foods sounds trivial and that I don’t understand how hard it is, but I do. Because I was there for years doing the latest and greatest available to man until I found systems that worked for ME and for my ultimate goal: a lifetime of health.

I workout five to six days a week.  Usually no more than 30-40 minutes (sometimes, I can get away with moving my body intensely for 20 minutes! Score!)

I workout mostly in my living room using a virtual gym membership (This one is my favorite.) As well as getting out and working out with friends and family. Hiking, running, dancing, walking, or a local bootcamp is a great way to stay active and feel support and be consistent and change scenery!

I have chosen to eat a more Paleo type diet (having a diet is different than being on a diet….remember that!) My philosophy really is to eat as many whole, nutrient dense foods as possible.

I drink my superfood Shake each day because, hello, I am a busy wife and mom and spend a lot of time in the car taking people places.  It is BRAINLESS nutrition for me….I don’t have to think about it. It is the ultimate Mom Fuel!

Speaking of fuel, one of my kids who shall not be named, refuses to try to eat veggies. No matter how I try, he absolutely believes I am trying to poison him. Dramatic, that one is.  So I have also decided to give my kids their daily serving of veggies and fruit in a shake for a snack, so that I feel a little more confident that my kid isn’t going to drop dead from refusing to eat his veggies.

My kids are active. Madi swims 4-5 days a week. Sean has a baseball game twice a week and at least one baseball practice.  I make sure that I invest to get them what they need because they have growing bodies that I need to pay attention to.

All that to say, my process isn’t that complicated. Yours shouldn’t be either.   You need to do research.  You need to, tough love here, step away from the easy, quick, and fast aisle in the grocery store and buy as many whole foods as possible. Healthy food isn’t more expensive.  You believe it is because companies have lied to you.  Fad diets have lied to you. Fast food may be filling your stomach and stopping the hunger pains for the moment, but you are still deprived of nutrition. You are empty of what you actually need.

Your body doesn’t need another diet with big promises. Your body needs you to make the decision to change because your choices don’t just affect you. They affect your entire family.

Imagine you had a choice to get healthier, your very life was on the line, and these were your options:

A. Invest in your health, but it meant that you could live longer and be there for your kids and you could get better.

B. Complain that eating healthy and exercise is too expensive and too inconvenient and it would take too long, then you end up dying and leaving behind your kids.

Yeah…I went there.

Read the statistic again about how more than 1 in 20 adults were considered extremely obese. If these fad diets were so good, than that number should not be the truth..  That should not be the reality.  I am so saddened by the fact that we could absolutely change this, but we choose not to because we believe the lie that fast, easy and cheap is the best way and it is not fair that it is expensive.

You want to save money? You want to put more money back in your wallet? You are tired of paying the doctors to stay ill and on medication when you want to be living whole and free?

Get healthy.  Make those changes. A healthy person does not visit the doctor nearly as much as those who are chronically ill due to their unhealthy habits that can be changed due to diet and exercise.  If you are on medication or sick all the time, over time, with consistency and being willing to stick with it,  you will see a transformation take place.

It won’t happen as fast as those fads try to sell you, but it will happen. But you have to be willing to step up to the plate, slam those lies that are pitched at you out of the park, and run like the wind to score.

Go do it, sister friend.

That sounds like a big over promise, doesn’t it?

One of the biggest concerns I hear from my sister friends who are working on their journeys is that they feel so completely overwhelmed by the changes that have to be made, even though they know they need to happen.

They feel like a failure when they can’t complete a sixty day fitness plan (or even a 30 day plan!) and they get stuck in this self-defeating cycle of quit and start again.

I want to change that for you.

What if, in one week, you can begin to work on that problem you are facing in your Be a Size You journey.  Whether it be the internal struggles and the external that leaves you feeling bewildered and frustrated and desire for change, one week is truly all you need to begin that process.

Beginning on October 9th, I will be launching my Clean Week groups.  They will happen once a month, in the beginning of the month.  

They will run for 7 days only.

They will include 30 minute workouts that anyone can do. I promise, even the most beginner of fitness levels can do this.

There will be superfoods to make nutrition even more brainless for you. 

Continuous support and encouragement from me and fellow sister friends who are doing this with you. You won’t be alone!

Scripture and hope because I truly believe God cares about you and your health.  Because I want these one week gatherings to be a place where we tackle our giants head on, where we are uplifted and motivated, and spurred on to love one another and do good.

Big Weekend Coming up and Some Jane Goodies

Happy Thursday!!! I am so excited that the weekend is almost here!  Today, I am prepping some snack food for our College Football viewing, as well as helping Madi out at her Swim a thon that will be taking place Saturday.  This is her swim team’s biggest fundraiser of the year and all the money they raise will go towards the needs of the team and swimmers and to host meets, etc.  Madi is loving her time on the swim team.  She has stated that she would love to compete at the Olympics when they are in LA in 2028 so here we go!!!  So proud of this chick!

I have something fun to share with y’all.  It is no secret that I enjoy shopping and sharing with you guys the cutest clothes that I find on the interwebs. There are so many amazing women who own the cutest boutiques, and I am constantly in heaven, much to my husband’s horror.  He hides the wallet!

The Entitlement Trap

Entitlement.  We hear that word a lot nowadays, and unfortunately, most of the time it is tied to my Millennial brothers and sisters. We see jokes, commercials, social media and even songs shared around the globe, calling those who are young and still learning their world entitled, spoiled, lazy, expect much and not willing to work…..the list goes on.

But y’all, the attitude of entitlement is not limited to those of a certain age.  I have seen it played out in churches (oh yes!!!!!), in businesses, social media, government.

Many of us are caught in a trap, and we need to get out of it.  This attitude of “I AM Entitled” is a trap.

Yesterday, one of my favorite fitness communities launched a brand new app for their followers. I had purchased their Nutrition Plan back in 2011 because I really needed the help in eating good and nutrient dense food (this was way before Shakeology and the Fix containers!)  They spent 18 months on this particular app, which the thinking and brainstorming behind it probably took almost three years, and it looks beautiful! If you have heard of Tone It Up, you know what I am talking about. These lovely ladies are funny, engaging and work hard to make fitness fun and get you results.  I don’t do their workouts nearly as often anymore since I mostly do Beachbody, but I still LOVE their community and message.

So imagine my surprise when I saw folks who were upset that Karena and Katrina were actually charging a membership to the Studio portion (where you would have exclusive access to new workouts and new TIU Studio Trainers) and they felt that wasn’t right and that it should be FREE.

Wait….what?  I will be honest. This makes me so angry.  These women give a ton of content for free. All you have to do is go on YouTube and see hundreds of workouts they have created and provided that you don’t even have to pay for.  They blog (which you don’t have to pay for) tips, recipes, health and beauty advice.  Every year, they have their biggest fitness series, The Bikini Series that runs for eight weeks to kick off summer, and again..you don’t have to pay for it! Those who are Nutrition Plan members, like me, even get an eight week bikini series guide (with recipes and a meal plan!) for free…..just for being a member.

And you are mad because these women created protein powder that you have to buy at a store and will charge you $12.99 a month to access exclusive content in the app? Which by the way, $12.99 is a great deal!  It basically means for three months, you only pay $40 for your workouts.

The fact that so many felt that because they were customers or members of the nutrition plan, they should be entitled to a discount or free.  That is not how the world works.  This is Karena and Katrina’s job. Their job is to create valuable content for you all to reach your health and fitness goals, and believe it or not, they are the ones who are entitled to being paid for their hard work.

But it is not just the fitness community. Trust me when I say that I hear it plenty of times from people who want my time and energy in my fitness challenge groups that I run each month, but are not willing to invest.  If you want my time, you must be willing to put some skin in the game.  I am worth the investment. I deserve to be paid for my work. Do you go to your job and not get paid? I didn’t think so. Nothing is free. Stop expecting it to be.  If you cannot afford something, fine. Go get creative and do your own thing for free. But don’t get upset when those whose job it is to create content want to get paid for their work.

You know where I see entitlement the most?  In churches.

I am not trying to shoot my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, but it is prevalent in many churches. This is slightly different than someone owning a business and wanting to get paid for their work, but the attitude is there.

When it comes to churches, many attend or leave a church based on what it can do or doesn’t do for them.  I rarely hear people say they leave a certain church because they felt the teachings were in error or they were in disagreement.  Mostly, it is because it is not what they want. Not the style of worship.  They don’t like that there isn’t a coffee shop on campus. Church is too big, so they must not be spiritual enough. Church is too small so it must not be spiritual enough. They come, saying they want to be a part of a family, but once the church or the leaders do something they don’t like, they are very quick to criticize and even threaten to leave….and tell others why they are leaving!

Have you ever heard any of the following statements? Have you ever said any of them?

“I have been a member of this church for a long time, and the changes they are making are not how I would make them.”

“They don’t sing the type of worship I like so I’m leaving.”

“They don’t provide the right programs for me.”

“I am upset that they don’t have a VBS for my kids to attend (and I am not willing to volunteer at VBS either)”

“I should not have to serve in XYZ ministries because that is why they have pastors. That is what they pay them to do.” 

“The pastor(s) weren’t on call to answer my “emergency phone call” to the church at 9PM. That is what they are paid to do.” (Yeah, no. Sorry. Pastors have families too and they deserve to be with them.  If it is a  real emergency, I highly suggest calling 911 or local law enforcement. I once had a woman corner me on my husband’s first day at our old church and tell me that someone needs to be on call 24/7 for phone calls to the church at night. I almost told her thanks for volunteering. I had to refrain myself so Dan would still have a job. )

I could go on and on.  I have heard a ton of statements from those who are unwilling to sacrifice and serve, but are quick to complain when they are displeased.

Forgive me, but the church was not created for your pleasure.  Jesus did not call on Peter to build the church so that we can create programs to make those who attend happy and entertained. The church was created to make disciples, to train and equip,  and to build the kingdom and to fulfill the great commission. The church is to give God the glory, not to enlighten your senses.

I am starting to rant. I apologize. But this is something that makes me so angry and it breaks my heart because friends…..this attitude is a TRAP!

We must own our faith. We must be willing to serve God’s church. We must realize that we must die to self and pray for our leaders and pastors as they work and seek God’s will for your church and for the congregation and for the direction that particular church wants to go in.  It is not easy. Their decisions that they make, more often than not, have been heavily prayed over and they realize that people will be disappointed and people will choose to leave.

I am not saying that Pastor’s shouldn’t listen to the congregation or hear their concerns.  I am not saying that events, activities, programs are a bad thing.  But if you leave the church and grumble out loud to others because you think you are entitled to certain things and they aren’t serving you…..a heart check in necessary.

It is okay to not attend a church that you don’t enjoy. Lord knows we have visited churches and chose as a family not to attend for whatever reason. But, we refuse to harm the leaders and those who do attend by having the attitude of “they didn’t do it my way so I will take my ball and go home.” That is not kingdom attitude. That is a self-serving, entitled attitude.

Let’s be better than that.  We are Christ followers.  We want to love God, and love His people. Let’s do better than that.  Let’s Kingdom build, not tear it down with our own hands.

My Life Changed When……

I finally had enough of not feeling good in my skin.

I wanted to develop healthy habits, but I wanted to do it the right way. Problem was, I didn’t really know what the “right way” was or meant or how to go about it.

I spent a lot of money and time on things that gave a false hope. Supplements couldn’t change my life….my new habits had to.

That meant that I had to move my body and build stronger muscles and workout.

That meant that I had to learn more about quality nutrition. Not just focus on low calorie, but on REAL food that gave my body what it needed to function at its most optimal.

It meant I had to say no to the things I enjoyed previously because they no longer served me in my pursuit of my goals. It meant being okay with being uncomfortable because that was how change was going to happen. I couldn’t take the easy way out.

Beachbody changed my life and helped me develop habits that I lacked. It gave me the confidence to finish a 21 day, 30 day, 60 day, or even a 90 day program because all I had to do was follow the workout calendar, get off my butt and push play.

Beachbody changed my life in that it wasn’t just about working out, but fueling our bodies. It meant following the nutrition guide that came with my program because it was designed to help me succeed. I wasn’t smarter than the program. I let the experts help me where I couldn’t help myself.

Beachbody changed my life in that it provided incredible high quality nutrition, Shakeology, meant to give me one nutrient dense and brainless meal a day, so that I could stay with my goals even as a busy mama and wife. It didn’t replace healthy eating and living, it enhanced it. It expedited my results and help me cut my habit of snacking.

Beachbody changed my life in the fact that I have a HUGE community of women who want the same thing: healthier lives. We support each other. Push each other. Celebrate each other. Some of us have taken on the roles as coaches to help other women do the same thing……encourage women to live healthier and fuller lives.

Beachbody hasn’t been instant gratification. It is hard work and a willingness to surrender to the process in order to reach a certain results. There is no room for know it alls and for those who aren’t willing to work for what they want. The incredible value that Beachbody has provided me for life (with a virtual gym in my living room with a few thousand dollars worth of workouts…no matter where I go?!) is far greater than anything else out there.

I don’t say that with arrogance. I say that with confidence. Because I am literally living proof of what can be achieved if we are willing to work for it.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work that hard.

Be Brave Enough to Try

What have you always wanted to do, but thought you couldn’t do it because you had never done it before and you were afraid you would be bad at it?

I thought I would throw this out there to the universe, because, well, why not?!

I have always wanted to have my own clothing boutique.

Don’t worry, I am not making a major announcement, at least not today, but I thought I would be a good thing to chat about today. How many times are we told to not pursue something simply because we have never done it before or we don’t know how to do it.

I was talking to my husband about this the other night, how we have so much information and education and tools at our fingertips that literally, if we wanted to learn more about something, we could just GOOGLE it.

You can google how to start a business selling your own crafts out of your bedroom.

How to create a YouTube channel that provides incredible value and content.

Even how to make money on your blog just by writing and being able to direct people where to buy a product or tool.

You can even begin impactful and meaningful non-profits or organizations or ministries, simply by being willing to educate yourself and take those first action steps to be bad at it, so that you can learn and grow and be better.

Why is this idea of not doing something simply because we don’t know how or have never done it before so powerful, so crippling? Why do we allow it to control our decisions or dreams?

I am not saying we should not seek advice or wise counsel. The bible even tells us that seeking wise counsel from wise individuals is for our benefit.

And truthfully, not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. It takes work and patience and diligence and a willingness to fail sometimes.  Most people are more comfortable with security and having a 9-5 job, because they believe that is stable (which I don’t think it actually is, but that is my personal opinion, not fact.)

I love this quote about being brave enough to try something new. Of course you are not going to know all the answers and you may mess up a bit. Of course it is going to feel awkward and uncertain and even a bit scary.

But I think that is the beauty of it, really. You learn something new about yourself and you get to grow and become better.  We all want to become better. But in order to do that, you have to make attempts at doing things you weren’t familiar with.

Choose to grow, sister friend!

Friday Favorites Roundup

Y’all, this is NOT my outfit for today. This was  back around LAST FALL/WINTER.  It is still around eighty degrees in Southern California and the weather doesn’t look to be dropping anytime soon. Which makes this Fall loving gal really sad.

Come on, California! Get with it!

In the meantime, I am dreaming of sweaters, booties, warm and cozy things for your home, and soups to make at home.

First, who watched last week’s UCLA game against Texas A&M? I thought for sure I would have to comfort my Bruin loving husband because it did not look good. That comeback game was one for the books because even I was cheering (and I am a USC fan!!!)  I love games like that!! So good!

Now for my favorites for this week.

Since Fall is slowly happening, and for some of you, the transition into cooler weather is already happening in your area, I have been browsing some of my favorite sites for pretty Fall worthy items to add to my wardrobe.  I am always on the lookout for sweaters, duster cardigans, jeans, and booties, as well as some accessories.  A lot of these are on sale as well, so if you are able, snag a few of the items you have been eying before the price goes up again!

When it comes to my home, I love switching out pillows to match the seasons.  One of my favorite shops happens to be Linen and Ivory. They have such cute merchandise so if you are looking for something festive, you definitely should check this small business out.

My favorite candle scent is Marshmallow Fireside from Bath and Body Works. You guys. YAAAASSSS!
Bath and Body Works is having a special right now on these candles (regularly $24.50) but you get them for $12.50 each when you buy 2 or more.  Do it. I always stock up on my favorite scents when the three wick candles go on sale. I love having them burn in my home, especially when the weather cools down and when I am reading….or just anytime really. I don’t need permission to light a candle!
I am also dreaming of delicious soups to make during Fall/Winter months that are relatively easy, yet delicious and healthy and satisfying.  That is super important to me.

Don’t Show Off-Just Show Up tank from Cross Training Couture

I have entered a new season of parenting, and to be honest, while I was a little nervous…I wasn’t exactly terrified of the pre-teens.

I have been blessed with a daughter who is a true joy.  She is definitely coming into her own when it comes to her growing into who she is. And with every sweet precious girl, a little bit of sass is apparent (she is her mother’s daughter!)

But I can’t complain about her.  When she was a precious babe, I would hear from so many well meaning parents who would tell me to just wait until she became a teenager. Just wait. Then I would want to pull my hair out. Then I would agonize over having a daughter.

But, and perhaps this is me being naïve, I don’t think we are in for hard years with our daughter.  Our precious Madi.  I don’t mean that we are going to go through life bump free. But I don’t think that when she becomes a teenager, life will suddenly become terrible with her.

Being the momma of a daughter is special.  Some of us are blessed to have more than one daughter.  My daddy had three girls who looked up to him and thought the world of him. Our Daddy was our first knight in shining armor. He was our hero.  Madi looks at her daddy and sees a man who loves her unconditionally. The bar is set really high for the special young man who will one day love our daughter and marry her. I am praying for him specifically. I can’t wait for that young man to one day join our family.

But for now, our daughter is ours.  She is being raised in our household.  We are striving to teach her His word. To cling to what is good. To love others and to serve God with her whole heart and mind and body.

Madi is entering a stage and age groups where the need for attention is real. Showing off, being front and center, being noticed, wanting to be valued…those are real messages that will be vying for my daughter’s attention and for her heart.

So, as her momma, who understands the pull of the world and whose own heart has been pulled and affected, I want her to cling to this:

“That according to the riches of his glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19 ESV

I want her to know who she is and to WHO she belongs to.

My daughter is also an athlete. The shirt she is wearing tonight says “Don’t show off-Just Show Up.”

In the fitness world, it is easy to see how that applies.  We show up each day for our workouts.  We don’t show off our awesome muscles just because we want to look good. If it is a part of our life, we do it daily, regardless.

As we walk it out with Jesus, we need to show up daily.  Christianity is not a cool club to belong to.  My daughter will soon see from some of those who don’t share her beliefs that being a Christ follower isn’t so easy.  It takes showing up.

I want my daughter ultimately to realize that she doesn’t need to show off in order to gain anyone’s love or approval.  With so many things that will be vying for her attention and heart, I want her to instead focus on showing up in the things that matter.

*Show up in love and compassion for her friends that are in need of it, even if she is without words.

*Show up each day in His word, so that she may be empowered by His Holy Spirit and to be guided by Him when she faces decisions she is unsure about.

*Show up in offering grace, even when others withhold it, for God did not withhold His own son from us.

*Show up daily by offering hope found only in Jesus.

*Show up daily as a friend. As a Daughter. As a princess of the King.

She doesn’t need to compete or show off in order to prove how valuable she is. God loves my precious daughter.  He loves her more than I do.  He wants good for her, He wants to give good gifts to her more than I do.

My job is not to make her life pleasurable and happy. Happy is a by-product.  My job as her mother is to raise her to walk with the King and to love Him with her whole heart, mind and soul. That will take the rest of her life, and she will most definitely falter some moments. But grace upon grace and the willingness to run towards Him even in failure, she will learn and grow to fall more in love with Him and fulfill His will.

I can’t wait to see what God does in the life of my beautiful daughter.

Introducing Daily Sunshine-The Nutrition Game Changer for Your Kids

My kids also tested for themselves.  I mixed it up for them: Madi drank Strawberry Banana and Sean drank Chocolate.  I only mixed it with water.  While they were doing their homework, I asked them to taste test my new snack option that I had for them.  These are their initial reactions.

*Disclosure: Sean initially said he liked Chocolate, but after he drank it a little more, he did comment that he would like his made next time with milk.  Just so you know! That is his honest opinion.  Today, he just asked for Daily Sunshine for a snack with his homework, which means he does like it and I am happy to make it for him!

Let’s Help Those in Texas

Heartbreaking, isn’t it? I don’t even think those words adequately describe the devastation we are all seeing on our television screens and social media pages.

The loss that those in Texas and in the path of Harvey has experienced is unbelievable. For those of us watching from the sidelines, I am sure you feel as helpless as I do. Because we all want to help in some way.

If you haven’t been privy to any specific information regarding the devastation and the numbers, here are the details (via)

*39 Lives have been lost so far, and more than 1 Million people have had to evacuate their homes.

*More than 20 Trillion gallons of rain fell across Texas and Louisiana.  

*125 Billion needed in Federal relief money for the State. Texas Governor Greg Abbot said that his state will need relief money “far in excess” of that total. Can you imagine?!!

*80% of Texans don’t have flood insurance.

*185,145 homes estimated to be damaged or destroyed by Harvey.

*364,000 people have reportedly registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

*42,399 people in shelters, according to the Texas Governor.

You guys.  This is mind blowing. For those of us who want to do something, know that whether you are able to give a little or a lot, any amount will help.

Because there are evil people who will take advantage of the generosity of others in order to benefit themselves, if you are looking to give in any way, here are some legitimate organizations that are actually contributing to the needs of those in Texas and surrounding areas. They have need. Thieves do not. It is okay to take some time to do research so that you can have confidence that your donation will go to relief and recovery efforts.

*Charity Navigator: A non profit site that is designed to help you find legitimate organizations that are providing relief efforts. You can also see information on how much they give for and total percentages of proceeds given. So if you need some time to research before you choose, go there first.

*JJ Watt Houston Flood Relief Fund: This one is getting a lot of attention on the media and social media thanks to Houston Texans Defensive End JJ Watt.  Because of the media attention, there will definitely be a demand for accountability and honesty about where all donations are going.

*Houston SPCA: For animals that had to be left behind or got lost or are in danger due to the floods. Because of space limitations in shelters and even hotels that are providing relief, many pets weren’t able to accompany their owners.  So if you are an animal lover and want to help in any way, they are local and a great resource!

Also, If you are concerned and want to help, but don’t have the financial means to or you want to give something tangible, many organizations are asking for clothes, underwear, sanitary items, and more. Imagine having to leave your home with only the clothes on your back or in a small bag and losing everything. Think about all that we may take for granted and go through your closet for gently used items (except underwear) or even brand new items that you know can be used by men, women and children who are without.

Together, whether with a little or a lot, we can do much for our friends in Texas.

With so much animosity and hatred and anger in our country right now, one thing this tragedy has shown us is that when disaster strikes, we can come together and love each other and do good.

Let’s be the good. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus.
