6 Months

You have been very busy for a six month old!

You have started to say Dadda over and over again. You are really trying to talk to us a lot. You are so expressive and verbal for a little guy. I can’t wait to see more of your personality as you get older.

You have been working on crawling a ton. And you are extremely fast too.

And you are bored with just crawling and decided a couple of days ago you wanted to try to pull yourself up to standing position. And you succeeded. For 2 seconds.

Can you slow down just a tad? You are growing so fast. I can’t believe that you are almost 7 months old. You are such a beautiful blessing to your daddy and me.

The other day you had your first boo boo. With blood. You hit your mouth while playing with your toys and you had that cry. The one where I knew you were in pain. And when I saw the blood I almost died! Praise God it wasn’t serious. You recovered pretty quickly (like within 5 minutes). I guess this will just be the first of many since you are such an active little boy.

I love you Sean! I am so excited to see what you will learn next!

Love,

Mommy

Little Gymnast

Yesterday we took Madi to a free trial class at My Gym. Dan and I feel like Madi has a lot of energy to expel so her papa signed her for one class just to see how she likes it.

Ummmm she LOVED it! She got to swing on the trapeze, balance on a rocking boat and do some tumbling. She was so happy and proud of herself.

I was one proud mama myself. I really think having her enrolled would be good for her until she starts pre-school in the Fall. We will see.

Today a bike ride sounds like a great way to get active :).

What activities do you and your family love?

Just One of Those Days

The kids won’t stop whining or crying. A HUGE load of laundry is calling my name and I really don’t want to do it.

If we had a second car I would take the kids out to run around somewhere. Hmmmmm…I think a walk is in order today.

How is your Wednesday so far?

P.S. Look at who I caught checking herself out this morning *wink*

And don’t mind the messy stairs. I keep it real people.

Just One of Those Days

Cusco, Peru

Hello friends!

Thanks to a sweet friend who alerted me to this, I am asking prayers on your behalf for my friend Tracie and her family.

They are missionaries serving in Cusco, Peru and currently experiencing massive rains and flooding. At last mention on her blog (http://rickyandtracie.blogspot.com/2010/01/pray-for-cusco.html) Cusco was about to declare a state of Emergency. My friend is due with their second child and as of right now are unable to get out of Cusco.

Please friends pray. My heart is anxious as this is my friend but I believe God is in control. If you want to get updates on Cusco, you can check out her blog.

On my knees.

Shoes

I have a lot to tell you all about last night at Illuminate. I haven’t been able to process it all and get it down on paper. I am hoping for a few moments to do that so I can share just how moved I was last night.

God is good.

So instead for right now I am going to be super spiritual and show you some shoes I found online that I am kind of in love with.

I love colorful shoes.

On Zappos.com they had a catchy little advertisement that said Pops of Color.

Oh they are so clever those advertising gurus.

Below are a few of my favorites. The 3rd shoe is by Naughty Monkey…a brand known for creating eclectic and fun shoes.

The last shoe I saw on someone’s Twitter but in a different color. But wouldn’t the white and red be PERFECT for Valentine’s day?

Note to my husband….I did not purchase any of these shoes you see on here.

See, I do have some self-restraint when it come to shopping.

What are some of your fave window shopping finds?

Tiff~

P.S. That Twitter was from Elizabeth Kartchner. She has an awesome blog full of yummy craftiness. And she has an awesome sense of style. Http://elizabethkartchner.blogspot.com.
Check her out!

Hello There!

It has been raining really hard over here in Southern California. I think even Orange County had a tornado warning.

That is insane. While I enjoy a change of pace in the weather, I sometimes feel very unmotivated to do anything when it is like this. I can’t even imagine how those who live back east deal with this.

And they must completely laugh at is westerner’s who complain about a little rain.

Madi, Sean and I are trying to keep ourselves occupied while the weather keeps us inside. Lots of reading, painting, crawling and playing happening. And there have even been quite a few snuggles.

So I can’t really complain.

What do you do when the weather is undesirable?

Impromptu

Here at the Harper’s we love a good photoshoot. Well, at least Madi and I do. Dan doesn’t really like having his picture taken. And Sean…well right now he doesn’t have a choice.

I love the power I have right now over a six month old. When he turns one it’s all over. Hehe.

Anyway, the other day while getting ready for church, Madi and I decided to have an impromptu photoshoot. Madi loves the camera and is always hamming it up. Love this girl.

Mom, be sure to take lots of photos of yourself with the kids. They love it!

Finish Strong

When I was in high school I ran on the Cross Country team. Why I would subject myself to running on purpose and for a sport I will never know. Actually, the biggest reason I did it was because my boyfriend was on the team. And I wanted to be everywhere he was.

I know. Not a good reason to join a sport. Or do anything for that matter.

But I didn’t hate the sport. In fact I found that I actually enjoyed running. Was I any good? No. I probably came in last at every meet.

I remember one race in particular. It was extremely that day and of course my turn to run was in the middlebof the afternoon. Before the meet I had already told myself that I didn’t want to run. And I had a fight with my boyfriend.

I had already psyched myself out of finishing the race. Finishing strong.

While running all I could think about was the heat, the fight with my boyfriend and how I really did not want to run. So I decided to “injure out.”

Y’all I faked my injury. I think I was halfway through the race when I pretended to trip and roll my ankle. Then I produces big crocodile tears in order to prove I was in too much pain to continue.

And it was then I discovered my true calling as an actress. Just kidding. Sort of.

I thought I would feel better after I stopped running that day. But the truth is I didn’t. I felt worse. I didn’t get to experience the exhiliration the rest of the team experienced when finishing a race. I felt embarrassed when the times were announced and next to my name it stated “Did Not Finish.”

It was a very humbling moment.

Faith is a lot like running a race. A long distance race. This is a marathon, not a sprint. In fact, the Bible makes this comparison in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 where it speaks to us of attaining the imperishable prize of Christ. To see Him at the end of our journey and to receive our reward in heaven as His children.

That we should remove anything that could trap us and keep us from running this race.

It will be long, sometimes very hard, wrought with difficulty….

But praise Jesus we have many examples to lean on.

And God who began a beautiful work in us when we began this race, this journey of following Him…will complete His good and perfect work in us.

But we have to keep running.

Earthquake in Haiti

Hello friends!

I am sure many of you heard about the 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday. If not, you can check out up to date information on the situation and relief efforts through Compassion International here: https://www.compassion.com/contribution/giving/disasterrelief.htm

if you feel led, please donate whatever you can to the victims and the people of Haiti. My heart breaks for them as this is a country already experiencing massive poverty.

If at this time you can’t give financially, will you join me in praying? That God would guide the government and relief workers in their efforts to help their people? For the victims and their families? For survivors?

Thank you friends!

We’ve Been Busy

I haven’t really had time the last few days to blog due to the fact that I have been spending nearly every spare minute playing with the munchkins, chasing a scooting infant, reading bible stories, cleaning house, laundry and trying to catch a few moments with hubby.

I don’t think I would have it any other way. While I absolutely love blogging and surfing the Internet, the moments that I have right now with my family are so precious. I am so happy that I get so spend my days with them.

I have been spending a lot of time in prayer and in God’s word too…really trying to fall in love with Him daily. I have been praying about my purpose here at home, in ministry and in life. I want to be a more content person. I want to find Joy in the everyday. And I want to keep that joy and not allow the stresses of life strangle it. Spending time with God really steadies my heart. He is my anchor, my stronghold and my shelter.

Everyday I fall more in love with Him. And everyday He gives me to spend with my family I will take. I will do my best to use my time wisely. Use the gifts and talents He has given me to share Jesus with my children and with those around me.

Yes, my life has been busy lately….but that is okay. I can’t complain about the company.

Have you been busy lately? How are you spending those moments of solitude?
